Put the turkey baster DOWN.
I found the secret to getting the cream from raw milk the easy way! Maybe it's not a huge secret, but I was pretty psyched to figure it out.
Step 1: Shake up your raw milk and dump it all into a dispensing container with a spicket/tap. Let it sit at least overnight in the fridge to let the cream rise to the top.
Step 2: VERY CAREFULLY move the container to a flat surface and if possible, put it on a little step stool on a table or counter top. Get a jar or container ready to dispense the skim milk. Make sure the top lid is off or the milk won't come out the tap!
As long as it stays undisturbed the cream will stay at the top as the skim milk dispenses out the bottom of the container.
Step 3: As the cream approaches the bottom, carefully tilt the container to only let out the skim milk.
Step 4: When only the cream is left in the container, switch to a different jar and dispense the cream!
After this, I usually dump all of the skim milk back into the large container and keep it in the fridge. It's handy having a skim milk dispenser!
